Let’s face it… laundry can be super overwhelming, especially if you have a big family, or if you have a busy lifestyle. For most of us, laundry is that thing we HAVE to do and never want to do. But it doesn’t have to be! Intrigued? Keep reading as I’ll take you through some time-saving laundry room hacks I’ve discovered with my new LG TWINWash™ dual washing system.
As a busy working mom, I’m always looking for new tips and tricks that make my chores around the house easier, so when I received my LG TWINWash system, I was excited to see how doing laundry could be made better. With this washing machine comes many time-saving hacks that I’m excited to share with you.
So, without further ado, let’s get into how my #LGUltimateLaundryRoom is making laundry days more efficient and fun.
Tackling Laundry as a Busy Mom
With a full schedule, my laundry process needs to be as fast and as efficient as possible. Between my twenty-month-old son, my husband, and myself, my laundry pile can quickly turn into a mountain – we get messy! That’s why I like to tackle about up to two loads per day so that my laundry basket is never piling up. You may be thinking, “Is it is easy to stay on top of daily laundry duties and still do everything you need to in a day?” The answer is yes! Especially with the LG TWINWash machine, which can literally wash two loads at once. And, in 49 minutes. You heard me!
With this amazing feature, I can wash a mixture of large and small loads simultaneously. The large loads at the top and the smaller, more special care loads at the bottom in the pedestal washer. In other words, my husband’s, my son’s clothes and mine can be washed at once – both mine and my husband’s clothes up top, and Benjamin’s clothes down below. Win-win!
In addition to having two loads washed at once, I love that this machine (like most LG washers) allows you the ability to choose your speed cycle. For example, an added feature on the LG TWINWash is its TurboWash® setting. This setting allows me to save up to 30 minutes per load, cutting wash time by half, and without compromising cleaning performance. So, if you’re like me and tackle two loads a day, or even if you save laundry to an assigned day of the week when the baskets are full, think about how much time you’ll save doing laundry.
Clothes Clean While Being Green
I can’t stress enough how important being environmentally conscious is, so it’s no surprise that having an earth-friendly laundry regimen is top priority. If you haven’t already, try making the switch to an ENERGY STAR® certified machine, as this can save as much as 7,000 gallons of water per year.
Consider this important energy-saving tip:
Look for the ENERGY STAR logo – If you’re in the market for a new washer and dryer, ensure they are both ENERGY STAR certified. Machines with this label end up saving you operating dollars over their lifetime, compared to machines that don’t bear the label.
When it comes to drying clothes, I’m a big fan of the old fashioned hang dry. Hanging to dry is one small step I like to take towards having a more eco-friendly household. However, there are some things that I enjoy using a dryer for. Towels and bedding have always been dryer items in my house, and thankfully my matching LG Electric Dryer can assist in not only beautifully drying these pieces, but also in conserving energy. I also like to put work wear (my husband’s work shirts for example) in a tumble dry to remove any stubborn creases and wrinkles, and this machine can do that wonderfully – I’ll get into this a little later.
Some other energy saving washing and drying tips that I like to practice in my
Opt for a front load washer – These washers contain an angled tub that requires less water to clean your clothes. Front loaders also tend to have higher spin speeds, which helps make drying faster.
Utilize cold-water settings – Hot water loads can use a fair amount of energy, so utilizing your cold cycle options as much as possible. I love using my LG ColdWash™ setting, as it combines cold water with enhanced washing motions to penetrate deep into fabrics. With this setting, I’m able to get cold-water, energy efficient savings with warm water performance.
Workout, Work and Baby Wear Cleaning
Being a full-time work-from-home mama can leave me tight for time, however, I make time every day (even if it’s for 20 minutes) for exercise. And while I love getting in a good sweat, I don’t love leaving smelly workout clothes in the laundry basket. One of my favourite things about the LG TWINWash dual washing system is that the pedestal washer that’s located below the front load washer is specifically intended to clean smaller loads. In other words, I can clean my workout wear immediately after a sweat. That’s right! Say goodbye to lingering smells from your musty workout wear that sat in your laundry basket overnight.
What’s also great about LG’s pedestal washer is that it’s perfect for those delicate, hand washable items. I love this feature specifically for washing my son’s more delicate clothing. It leaves them super soft without compromising the integrity of the fabric. I should also mention that my husband LOVES everything ironed, and well, that’s one thing this mama doesn’t always have time for! Luckily my LG TWINWash washer and dryer set leave less wrinkles, making ironing more manageable.
How, you ask? Check out my #LGUltimateLaundryRoom hacks below:
Use your dryer to eliminate wrinkles – Use your LG’s Wrinkle Care setting to tumble the load periodically for up to three hours after the selected cycle ends, or until you open the door. This setting is designed to keep wrinkles at bay, and trust me, it does!
Harness the power of steam – Use the LG Turbo Steam to eliminate any last-minute kinks that may have appeared from folding or hanging too long in the closet. With this setting, I’m able to quickly freshen up my husband’s work wear in the dryer instead of having to rely on the iron.
Do-it-yourself wrinkle remover – This is one of my favourite laundry room hacks! If your current dryer doesn’t have a steam setting, you don’t necessarily have to iron the wrinkles out. Instead, slightly dampen a cloth and add it to the dry load. Then, run the dryer for 5-10 minutes to help loosen any lingering wrinkles.
Laundry Done Right
Laundry may not be the most pleasant of household chores, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. And, thanks to my #LGUltimateLaundryRoom, I can stay on top of my laundry goals, all while being more environmentally conscious.
What laundry hacks do you use to stay on top of it? I would love to hear about it in the comment section below!
