Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
So, what’s the deal with Holistic Nutritionist?
A Holistic Nutritionist works on an individual basis to assist their client’s in regaining their natural balance through diet, supplementation and lifestyle changes. Emphasis is placed on assessing the whole person including their emotions, environment, and diet, in order to understand any issues involved with their well-being. The goal of a Holistic Nutritionist is to help guide their client’s on a path to the happiest, and healthiest, version of themselves.
What is your refund policy?
While we both love learning about food, Dietitians are regulated by the government so they must abide by Canada’s Food Guide. A dietitians is generally more concerned with calorie counts, food groups, and how much you’re putting into your body rather than what you’re actually eating. The root causes of health issues aren’t really addressed.
Registered Holistic Nutritionists are all about individuality, meaning that we look at what makes you, you. With eating whole and natural foods at the basis of our philosophy, it’s all about getting back to the basics here.
We teach our clients how to make healthy eating decisions, how to decipher labels, and avoiding fake/ processed foods. We’re also certified through private institutions, not the government, so there’s no agenda, but YOU.
But you’re online, how will this work well?
Sure, it may seem like a long distance relationship, but the Internet is a bright and gleaming place, full of opportunities for connection and support. Thanks to magic of the online space, we can connect over FaceTime or Skype for regular meetings and consultations. If your Internet connection happens to be bad, we can even chat over the phone (even though it does seem a bit archaic these days)! In actuality, it won’t look all that different than if we were consulting in person, except my face will be on your computer screen and you wont have to leave the comfort of your own home.
Distance has no bounds these days and if you find yourself outside of the beautiful country of Canada (I call home), we can totally make this work! Since there will be different supplements offered and stores carrying them wherever you live, I will be sure to offer you supplements that can be found in your area.
What if I’m already seeing a doctor and taking medications?
If you are currently seeing a doctor, you should make your other healthcare providers aware of any and all medications and supplements you are presently taking or have been prescribed. Holistic Nutrition can work really well alongside traditional healthcare practices (and of course other alternative types). The help of a Holistic Nutritional program, may even help you ween off of needing traditional medication, so be sure to keep your physician in the loop of any and all changes that occur throughout your program.
If you do happen to be taking medications, you must alert your holistic nutritionist to them. In addition, don’t forget to keep your pharmacist in the know too, that way they’ll be able to discuss any potential interactions between your medications and supplements.
